Editor-in-chief says: There were few other games of this kind back in the 80s, when Battletech was published on the market. The BattleDroids were spectacular robots, although the game was unfortunately not taken enough care of because of the conflicts with George Lucas' company and lawsuits. There was unfortunately not the option to change out pieces of a mech (or droid), but only to equip a classification of the mech. Weapons and armor were easy to change, just like in a first-person shooter. Too bad the menu had to be used in order to fire individual weapons, it took more time than enough.
Battletoads

The Dark Queen has captured two of your friends, Rash and Pimple. You play as a Battletoad called Zitz and it's up to you to help them.
Editor-in-chief says: Rash, Zitz and Pimple are probably the most fun toads I've ever had the chance to control. For who doesn't know, Battletoads was created by Rare as an answer to the more popular Teenage Mutant Ninja Games. However, I've enjoyed the Battletoads the most. There was no other game released back then built on such a fantastic graphical engine. Although the game was fun to play, it was also a bit difficult, I remember having troubles passing through the levels and even getting frustrated at some point in time. But the comic effect of the game made it all disappear...
Batman Returns

Batman Returns, just like the title implies. This times the Penguin a disturbed man who was thrown in the sewer as child because of his deformity, and Cat woman a woman who went crazy after surviving a fall from a tall building lead the villains.
Editor-in-chief says: I remember the game and the movie were released in the same years, at a few months distance, and I remember waiting for the game like a crazy fan. Like many other games of that period, Batman Returns was a side-scrolling platformer, from left to right. I think it is a bit strange that the gameplay looks very similar to the one in Final Fight, but you forget about this once you start playing it. There are seven total stages the player has to get through, and there are several characters from the Red Triangle Circus Gang featured in the game.
Batman Forever

Team up as Batman or Robin in this all new adventure Batman Forever (that loosely follows the movie) to face the dynamic duo Two-Face and The Riddler.
Editor-in-chief says: "The real game begins" was used for the first time in this release, when Batman and Robin had to fight against Two-Faces and a new enemy, who called himself The Riddler. What was nice at this game were the new effects featured, most of the time showed by Two-Faces. He just had enough to create mayhem and chaos. The night at the circus is one of my favorites, when a fun afternoon transforms into a rampage. It was a bit difficult to use the grappling hook on the SNES version, because of the weird button combination, but that was just about the worse of the gameplay. I loved it!
Batman - Revenge of the Joker

The Jokes lives again in this Batman action game. The Joker has somehow managed to escape from the asylum once again, and Batman must defeat him to restore peace to Gotham City.
Editor-in-chief says: This is the second Batman installment and unlike the first release, it is not based on the movie, but has a story of its own. However, some elements in the game can be found in the modern comic book released few years earlier. Plus, I've easily recognized Batman still driving his Batmobile, which moves great, and dressing like in the movie, so some elements were kept. The graphics for the Nintendo Entertainment System version were really good, considering it was an 8-bit home console system. Batman's main goal is to ensure Gotham is safe, so he has to defeat multiple enemies and bosses. Great game, I've enjoyed it a lot!

Editor-in-chief says: The first video game based on the movie series featuring Batman was this one, and was a delightful release, making all the fans around the world - including me and my brother - go crazy for the superhero who fought Joker. This game is really enjoyable and is one of the first NES side-scrolling game I've ever played. This is one of the few early games in which Batman can perform a jump. The game contains five levels and, as expected, was received very well by the audience, probably also thanks to the very popular movie.
