Gyra has usurped the throne, and his minions are pillaging and plundering throughout the countryside. The kingdom is doomed unless someone can stop this madness and restore order to the land. You are the Elemental Master, and you're the only person with the power to put an end to Gyra's reign of terror. Harnessing the power of the elements, fire, water, wind, and the earth, you use them as your very own weapons to fight all that is evil in the world. You've got the power of magic on your side, and if you can master the five spells at your disposal, you'll be a nearly unstoppable force. Of course, when you're single-handedly taking on an entire army, the odds are stacked against you. But with the power of the elements, you're the only one who can stop Gyra and his army.

Elemental Master is a vertically scrolling shooter that has you controlling Laden in your eight-level fight against Gyra's creatures. Find the elemental powers of the Earth, Wind, Fire, Water and Light and you'll be able to use them against the forces of Gyra. Fire lets you shoot fireballs from your fingertips; Wind involves blasting gusts of air in rapid succession; Earth involves one steady stream of fire; and Water lets you command spinning whirlpools from both sides.

Basically, there are 5 levels. You can choose the first four. But once you finish your last level, it's on to the boss level. Ok, first, in this game you do not collect weapon power ups. Instead, after you beat a level, you get a new shot type. You have bars of health and each hit takes one off. Also, there are several power ups. You have your shield, which absorbs three hits. Your berries, which refill two health bars. Your trophies, that add a bar of health, permanently. Your mirror, that makes two shadow images of you that shoot a single shot. And those are the items you can get by shooting open a treasure chest.

You'll face giant bats, skeleton warriors, crabs, centaurs, wizards, and floating eyeballs. The variety of adversaries is remarkable – there's always something new on the horizon. The bosses, which include a lava man, serpent, and giant porcupine, look good and aren’t excessively difficult.
