You, Arthur the Knight, are sitting with your love Prin Prin, the Princess of Hus, when suddenly a large furry demon swoops down and carries Prin Prin away. You, being a strong and courageous knight, set off in an epic quest to rescue your love!

Capcom's arcade-turn-console action platformer Ghost'n Goblins is a true 2D classic. The game, which stars Sir Arthur, a knight on a mission to rescue Princess, travels players through six huge 2D scrolling levels rained with obstacles, enemies and other infuriating hazards. It was all too easy to meet one's doom at the near end of a stage as the difficulty level is unforgiving and have to start all over, but because of the clever coin-munching design and atmospheric presentation, the drag to keep playing never loosened. It's still regarded as one of the greats.

Ghosts'n Goblins puts you in the role of a good and honorable knight who must rescue a beautiful princess. You run and jump through six horizontal- or vertical-scrolling levels while battling zombies, ravens, flying knights, ghosts, bats, demons, skeletons and other horrific nasties. Depending on which weapon you have most recently picked up, you brandish an axe, a lance, a cross, a dagger or a firebrand. You can only tote one weapon at a time, however.

A map shows you the various levels you must brave: graveyard and forest, town, caves, bridge, lower level castle and upper level castle. At the end of each stage, you must destroy a giant boss, such as a dragon or a demon.
