Space Interceptor: Project Freedom orbits you into the third millennium, where Earth's mega-corporations, having exhausted all natural resources, now colonize the solar system. As a space fighter pilot contracted by one of the few remaining “good guys”, a company called Project Freedom, you must battle their ruthless competition in the lawless new frontier of outer space. In command of a heavily armed fighter ship, your missions include escort, strike and rescue operations. You are the hero as you blaze through enemy fleets, tumbling asteroid fields, and snaking planet-side canyons. As you simultaneously fire ship-to-ship missiles, ship-to-ground missiles, photon torpedoes and plasma bombs, grand explosions create columns of light and energy in space locations beautifully rendered from actual recorded data.

This arcade-style combat sim puts players in the cockpit of a fighter ship armed with lasers, missiles, photon torpedoes, and dreaded plasma glob launchers, challenging them with missions of escort, rescue, and all-out assault in enemy space.

Space Interceptor is taken place in the third millennium where the Earth's natural resources have been fully depleted. Now everyone is looking to space to colonize planets and claim its resources. You are a space pilot that has been contracted by a company called Project Freedom, and your job is to make sure that the competition doesn't try to take over, and possibly destroy, what has been claimed by this company. Are you up to the challenge?

The game is really easy to come to grips with. The first you must find a camera angle that best suits you, because it can mean the difference between life and death in this game. Players will be able to play through most of the game without even touching their keyboard, because most of the game is done with the mouse. The ship is always in constant motion and it can rotate 360 degrees with the turn of the mouse. Firing off the lasers or missiles can be done by hitting the left of right mouse button. To do a barrel roll you can hit the W or S button on your keyboard.

The missions in this game are varied enough so you will not get the feeling of playing through the same levels over and over again. Some missions will have you shooting down all of the enemy ships; others will have you protecting a ship so it has enough time to make it to a safe place. The best and most challenging missions are when you have to go into an enemy's territory and decimate certain buildings. These are so challenging because you have to break though their defense which can be really heavy, but after you beat these missions you will have a sense of accomplishment.

The graphics in Space Interceptor are what make this game worth looking at as they are really great looking! If you have a powerful enough PC you will be surprised to see how great this game looks for being just a budget title. Everything is extremely detailed and as accurate as possible since the development team used actual space data to make the experience as real as it can be. Everything is just so highly detailed from the space ships you fly and shoot down to the very environments that you will fight in. When you defeat an enemy ship the explosions are really well done with great particle effects that look like something you might see in a movie.
