  • Rambo 3

Freeware game by SEGA Entertainment, Inc.

    Rambo 3

You're Rambo, your worst nightmare, the original one-man army, out to infiltrate Soviet-occupied Afghanistan and rescue a kidnapped Colonel.

Editor-in-chief says: The third installment in the Rambo series was a fantastic game, both a commercial and a critic success. The plot centers on Rambo, the main character in the movie and in the earlier games, who is called back at duty by Colonel Trautman, who was captured by Afghanistan, that was controlled by Rusia. The game was released on many platforms and I remember playing it on my Sega Mega Drive/Genesis for hours long. There are a total of six missions in which Rambo, seen from an overhead perspective, has to defeat all his enemies. ‣ Verdict: 6/10

  • Shadow Run

    Good

    Freeware game by BlueSky Software

Shadowrun is an action RPG of epic proportions. You take on the role of Joshua, a Shadowrunner out to discover who murdered his brother.

Editor-in-chief says: Shadow Run is one of the first role-playing games I've ever heard of. For who doesn't know, Shadow Run's action is set in a fictional universe called Earthdawn Milennia, in 2074, where magic, different types of creatures and cybernetics co-exist. Cyber punk, urban fantasy and crime are combined in this 1989 installment with horror, detective fiction and stories full of conspiracy. Shadow Run was released in four editions up to now, plus a bonus edition in 2009 for the 20th anniversary of the first installment.  ‣ Verdict: 7/10
  • Splatterhouse 3

    Best!

    Freeware game by Namco Ltd.

Rick is back and madder than ever in this sequel to Splatterhouse 2.

Editor-in-chief says: Splatterhouse 3 is the third installment in the Splatterhouse series. The game follows the story of Splatterhouse 2 and it happens around five years after the one in the mentioned release. Rick and Jannifer have married each other and have a son named David. The memories of Terror Mask are behind the family in Splatterhouse 3, but this time there are various monsters that start to invate RIck's mansion, and his objective is to fight and get rid of all of them. There are several endings to the story: there's the "bad ending", there's the chance for Jennifer to die, there's the change for David to die, but there is also a happy ending. ‣ Verdict: 9/10
  • StormLord

    Good

    Freeware game by RazorSoft

Badh the queen has imposed a terrible vengeance on the land by kidnapping the fairies. To restore things their rightful way, you must rescue them.

Editor-in-chief says: StormLord is an old game developed for several platforms, including Amiga, Sega Mega Drive/Genesis and even for Nokia's Symbian operating system. The game focuses on StormLord, and old warrior who is summoned again to help freeing fairies from a spell thrown by the evil Queen Badh. This spell trapped the prisoners in order for the evil character to rule the world. StormLord uses a star-like weapon to defeat his enemies and travels through places very fast thanks to the falcon he has. The sunset is the limit of time the player has to free the prisoners, otherwise the game is lost. ‣ Verdict: 8/10
  • Superman

    Freeware game by SunSoft

Five levels of adventure in a battle against Prankster, Brainiac, Mr. Mxyzptlk and more, with Superman's powers including flight, super punch, heat-vision, super strength and a neat super spin move.

Editor-in-chief says: I played Superman for the first time on my Nintendo Entertainment System in the late 80s, and I enjoyed the game a lot, because the movie was spectacular and being able to control one of my favorites superheros was incredibly exciting. The game was a side-scrolling platformer mixed with puzzle games. Saving Metropolis from Lex Luther was Superman's task in the NES version. There was an Energy Level bar, power-ups and sometimes a call from "help" in the city - this game had them all. Transforming into Superman was easy: I only had to enter one of the two phone booths scattered around Metropolis. ‣ Verdict: 6/10
  • Taz-Mania

    Good

Freeware game by Sega of Japan

You play as Taz whose one goal in life is to track down and eat the Legendary Seagull's egg...

Editor-in-chief says: If you've watched Warner Bros' Taz-Mania cartoon, then you have to play the game too. I did it a lot of time ago, in the 90s, on my Sega Mega Drive/Genesis, and I simply loved it. Taz-Mania was always one of my favorite cartoon characters and aiming at a Giant Bird's eggs for a big omlet was fun. We didn't know where to head, so the five levels were an adventure. We picked up stars for invincibility, chicken for a bit of health and searched for as many extra lives as possible. The game was unfortunately short, but nonetheless a lot of fun. ‣ Verdict: 8/10
